Empty Nest

We technically have an empty nest. Son number 1 has moved to NY for a job. Son number 2 lives in a college apartment on campus.

Sounds empty; but it is not. We have 4 children or I mean animals still living with us.

First we have Sugar Son number 1's dog that he could not take with him. She is 14 and she is old and grouchy. She is a golden retriever and something. She barks at me all the time and I do mean all the time when she does not like something that I do or do not do fast enough.

Second is Cookie this is Son number 2's dog that can not live on campus with him. She is a beagle basset mix and she is not only as stubborn as all-get-out she is also as dumb as a box of rocks. Not a good combo at all but on the flip said she is a sweet as can be when she is not being stubborn.

Third we have the cat. This is the cat I did not want. The cat that my wonderful husband spent his Christmas money on to bring into our home. She is nasty: she makes to much noise and she leaves a mess in the laundry room at least once a day.

Fourth and most importantly we have my baby Winston Princeton Churchill. Winston is now a year old. He is a baby horse disguised as a dog. He weighs 75 pounds but still thinks he is a lapdog. He is as fast as a greyhound and as protective as a German Shepard. He is also so very sweet and lovable. He is my baby.

Good thing these aren't human kids. The cat would be heading for years of addiction and then (hopefully) years of therapy, given how much she is the ugly step-child of the family. :)

I was thinking she is the in-law people would love to be rid of but can't. :-)
